Preparing your quilt for Longarm quilting:

One of the joys of using a longarm quilter is that there is no need to baste your quilt. The quilt top should be pressed and loose threads removed. Please check for good seams. Seams that do not lay flat may cause tucks, pleats, or fullness. Your backing fabric should be 4 to 6 inches bigger on all sides than the quilt top. Any seams on the backing should be at least 1/2 inch after the selvage has been removed and pressed open. The backing needs to be squared and pressed. Please do not use bed sheets for backing. Sheets have a high thread count, which forces the quilting needle to break the sheet's threads as it pierces through. This leaves holes in your backing and diminishes the stability of your sheet. Quilting fabric has a looser weave, which allows the needle to easily slide between the threads and keeps your backing fabric intact.

I recommend that you place your quilt in a plastic bag and then in a shipping box to protect your treasure. Upon receipt of your quilt I will e-mail or call you to discuss your pattern selection and give you a firm price for machine quilting. Be sure to include your name, address, phone number and e-mail address if you have one.

After receipt of your payment, your quilt will be returned via USPS. Please contact me at my studio for mailing address, either by phone or email. Studio phone 916-966-5206 or email [email protected]
